Guttering, Fascias & Soffits in Inverness
Roofline work that keeps water off your walls
Gutters, downpipes, fascias and soffits do a quiet but important job: they carry rainwater off the roof and away from the walls and foundations, and they close off and air the roof edge. When they leak, sag or block, water ends up running down the walls and getting in where it should not. Thistle Roofing installs, repairs and maintains rooflines across Inverness and the surrounding area.
We fit new guttering and downpipes, renew tired fascias, soffits and bargeboards, and repair leaking joints and sagging runs. We also clear blocked gutters and outlets, and check them as part of a roof inspection. On a re-roof we can renew the whole roofline at the same time, as on the project shown on this page.

Signs your roofline needs work
Roofline problems are usually easy to spot from the ground. Look out for these.
-
Overflowing gutters
Water pouring over the edge in heavy rain usually means a blockage, or gutters set at the wrong fall.
-
Dripping joints
Leaks at the joints and corners stain the walls and soak the ground below.
-
Sagging runs
Gutters that dip between brackets hold water and pull away from the fascia.
-
Rotten or flaking fascias
Timber fascias that are soft, cracked or peeling no longer hold the gutter properly.
-
Damp walls and stains
Green streaks and damp patches on walls are often caused by a leaking gutter or downpipe above.
-
Gaps at the eaves
Damaged soffits leave gaps where birds and weather can get into the roof space.
How a new roofline goes on
Your quote sets out exactly what your roofline needs. A full renewal usually covers the following.
-
A look and a free quote
We look at the gutters, fascias and soffits and price the work with no obligation.
-
Safe access
A scaffold or a tower, depending on the height of the eaves and the length of the run.
-
Remove the old roofline
Old gutters, fascias and soffits come off and the timbers behind are checked.
-
New fascias and soffits
New fascias and soffits are fitted, with vents where the roof space needs air.
-
Gutters and downpipes
New gutters are set to fall towards the outlets, and downpipes carry the water away.
-
Checked and tidied
We check the water runs as it should and clear the site.

Request a Callback 01463 641482Do you repair gutters as well as fit new ones?
Yes. We repair leaking joints, sagging runs and damaged downpipes, and fit new guttering where the old system is past repair.
Do you clear blocked gutters?
Yes. We clear gutters, outlets and downpipes so water can get off the roof, and check them while we are there.
What are fascias and soffits?
Fascias are the boards along the edge of the roof that the gutters are fixed to. Soffits close off the underside of the overhang between the fascia and the wall. Together they protect the roof edge and, with vents, help air the roof space.
Should I replace fascias and gutters at the same time?
Often it makes sense, because the gutters have to come off to replace the fascias anyway and the access is already in place. We will tell you if your gutters are fine to go back up.
How much does new guttering cost?
It depends on the length of the run, the number of corners and downpipes, the height and the materials. We give you a free quote after looking at it.
Is your guttering work guaranteed?
Yes, all of our work is guaranteed. We explain what that covers when we quote.
